Default Boost & Vacuum

Hello, I installed AWE boost gauge on my TT 180 yr2000 yesterday.
http://www.awe-tuning.com/media/prod...gauge_TT_f.jpg

It's not a chipped car, I only have K&N air intake and Forge splitter valve intalled.

My readings are :

Boost peak- 12psi
Idle vacuum- 22hg
Vacuum peak- 28hg

Do they seem to be OK? Anything unusual?

I am going to have the car chipped in 4 days. The tuner is locally well known guys here in the Netherlands.
http://www.jdengineering.nl/

In terms of above readings, what should be ideal after the car is chipped? If ideal values can't be suggested because it depends on chippers, then what would be the max/min vaules it should go up or down to?

Regards,

KennyK

If only I had such consistent readings... yes those are perfectly within spec for the 180.

Hmm thats odd, mine peaks higher in the lower gears...
I get like 15-20 Hg vac on Idle, haven't found a real pattern in it, but I suspect temperature/Humidity since my peak and hold boost is always about the same.
Not chipped BTW (yet.)

My car goes to 14psi or so right after I start the engine and drive off. Soon after it never goes above 12psi.
Could it be caused by the temp? I have K&N filter, maybe it's sucking the heated air from engine and that's causing low psi?
I now have more reason to shield the cone filter from engine..

i mentioned making/buying thermocouples the other day. Before you install that gasket, do me a favor, and get a temp reading of your cylinder head, and another after its installed.

I'm still on the fence on whether or not thats a good mod. The car is still making heat, are you just trapping it in your head? that wouldnt be a good thing.

why do you think the heat is trapped in the head....if u look at the application its just a spacer i mean the gasket is in turn fighting the heat instead of getting the head hotter....the temps decrease so how do you think the head heats up?
