does anybody know if the brake sensors are built in or on the brake pad?

The sensors are embedded in the pads. They are just a wire loop that completes a circuit and hook into a connector at the caliper. When the pad wears down to a point, it wears through the wire and breaks the circuit.. then the light comes on. If you have the brake sensors on your car and use a non-wear sensor pad, you'll have to add a resistor to keep the light from coming on.

Cool, is there any specific years or models that the brake pad sensors came in or that they came with? I have a 02 Roadster 225 and I am pretty sure that I dont have them.

You would have to look. You should see a small harness on the back side of the caliper. I believe it is located on the passenger front wheel.

Instead of a resistor, you can always reuse the remains of the old sensor, just twist the wires back together and and you're good to go.
