If you purchased a used TT, how could you tell if it's chipped or not?

That might sound like a rediculous question, but seriously... how would I go about finding out?

boost gauge, or vag-com perhaps...

 

I'd get a boost guage put in. If you're boosting around 12 (for a 225) than its most likely stock. Mine boost's around 18-20 after I chipped.

 

stock
180 = 11psi
225 = 14psi

chipped
depending on tuner 15-19psi

 

So if my stock '01 225 only shows a max of 11-12 psi, I'm assuming that there's a leak somewhere? Were do I begin? I just ordered a new DV (Hyperboost) that I'll install when it shows up. I have been hearing sort of a hiss when acceleratingfrom a stop. Was thinkingthe OEM DV was shot or soon will be.I wanted to replace it anyway because I hope to get it APR chipped in a couple of weeks.

 

Thats how much I had stock. Either we both have leaks or thats just what it is. But if its a leak I want my power back!

 

yeah the stock psi level for a 225 is 11psi i hit 14 once on a hot day like 10 min into the driving.. now i'm 19psi 20psi after the APR no leaks its normal

 

I sure hope that sound is normal haha

It's even louder when I drive the car harder.
