Coolant temp...
Whats the average coolant temp when getting readings from your HVAC?
(average coolant temp in F* or C*)
I've had a slight overheating problem, one notch past center line.
Im getting readings through the HVAC on channel 49 on my climate control.
I've heard 80* celsius is normal operating temp.
My car in 60*F weather is running at like 95* celsius (210*f) freeway driving.
I have a new water pump, thermostat, coolant, and just had the head rebuilt.
I also have vagcom and tested my gauges, fuel gauge is going out but the temp is functioning normally only moves to next direct line, no sitting in between temp lines.
I have a 2000 TT 1.8T
Thanks a lot for any input.

It took me forever to get back to this but I also believe 90*c is about right.
I am driving in cold weather right now and the car is at a constant 94*-98*c everyday.
I'm worried that if its like this durring winter time how will it react to 115*f weather out here.
I dont know how accurate those readings are.
I just got Vag-com before my car went to the shop. So I never really put it to use any suggestions would help.
oh and thanks for the info Joshuo

Well I checked the coolant temp sensor and I dont think thats my problem, its the green top sensor.
As well as my fans they are both in working order. The only thing that I noticed is that if I'measy on the throttle it wont go past the 90*-91*c but any time I jump on it 95*c or more.
This is basicly how it pans out
car warmed up from cold start - 70mph= 88*-91*c
70mph - 90mph= 94*-98*c
and after it passes 94*c even if I go park and idle it wont go much lower than 94*c [:@]
If anyone could monitor thier temps for me around 80mph you would help me out by posting your coolant temp for me
Thanks

What brand thermostat did you replace your old one with? Perhaps it was the wrong type for your Audi or even a cheaper OEM brand which will not work as well as the Genuine Audi Thermostat. My temp gauge never moves past the Center line even at long idle and rushhour traffic
I personally didnt replace it but I can see that it has the green top so Im assuming thats its the upgraded audi one.
As of today Ive noticed that having the A/C on, while drivingon the freeway will help lower the temps but the moment that Im off the highway at a light I will immediately start getting too hot.
I was off today so I did some logs with VAG-COM and noticed the temps bouncing alittle[>:].
At home while idling after a normal drive I went from 93* - 99*C and back and forth does this seem like a bad temp sensor to you guys?
I'm about to get the T-stat replaced just in case and just to be safe I think Im going to go buy a new temp sensor.
but yeah back and forth 94* - 99*C normal?
thanks
