Default Help with Exhaust Valve Guides falling through

Am rebuilding the head on my daughters 01 TT 1.8, 225hp AMU Engine while replacing the head gasket.

I have a HUGE PROBLEM:

Went to put new Exhaust Valve guides in (from Audi), they fell right through? Got the oversized ones, THEY fell right through?

HEAD does NOT say CHINA on it, has Audi part number on it. CAM is also OEM and so are the other parts....

My O.D. is 11.26mm (SPEC says 11.06mm and I've measured it countless times since everyone asks me if I didn't measure wrong? And they say it doesn't exist) My I.D. on these guides is the spec of 6mm? There are NO sleeves on these guides either...

They do NOT make that size anywhere...closest I came is for A SAAB or OPEL, but those guides are NOT BRONZE and are 11.26mm O.D. by 6.02mm ID?

Any idea WHERE this head came from? And WHY those exhaust guides are WAY too big? For what reason would this have been done?

Just a shot in the dark to see if anyone has any info.....

Hey man, saw your message just now - I apologize for the huge delay. I've been buried with life and work and haven't been on in awhile. Did you solve this?

Finally figured something out from TRUSTED parts supplier, NOT AUDI. Hope this helps others.

The 225hp TT HEAD is not supposed to be rebuilt. They want you to buy a new HEAD.....BUT, I finally found some BMW guides with the same ID, larger OD and machined them down....CAR is running GREAT! Was going to have some made, but that was big $$$$$$....so the BMW guides do work great if you have a way to machine them down.

One of my parts suppliers actually told me point blank, 225hp has different guides, you need to purchase a new head....
