Default New Audi (This can't be normal)

So like i mentioned in my post, i got a new audi, drove it 1/2 way across the country last night. It seems the radio does some funky stuff. First thing is, is when i shut off the car and remove the keys/open the doors, the radio stays on, i have to press the **** in to shut it off. Second, when driving after an hour or 2, it will randomly shut off and i have to press the volume **** in (to the off possition) then turn it back on, and it comes up just fine. Thoughts?

thats weird.

The radio has a built in function to let it play for 1 hr with the car off/key removed, then it shuts itself off. Shouldn't do that while the car is running though.

It SHOULD shut off when the car is turned off. My parents Passat does that too though, you have to manually turn the radio off or it keeps playing. I don't know if it shuts itself off while they're driving though.

Almost like it's thinking in reverse. Plays when off, times out when on. Dunno how you'd fix that. Maybe the dealer has some insight.

Think disconnecting the battery cables would reset this? Could that cause any other problems with the ecu or anything?

Doubt he'd have a problem with the radio code, but it doesn't hurt to make sure you do have it in case it does go into safe mode.

With all the work I've been doing to the electrical system on my car lately, I've had the battery disconnected for hours. I don't go into safe mode, and I don't lose my presets. It always comes back with the radio station in preset 1 selected, but nothing worse.

Early year cars went into safe like crazy, 01-02 and on (my guess), you'd need to physically try to remove the radio for it to lock.

Disconnecting the battery is the low cost (aka, free) way to clear codes. You shouldn't get codes from it. Give it a shot, but I dont think the coding for the radio is volatile, it'll probably retain all its info, including its quirks. But try it, I've been known to be wrong, and these cars have been known to be wacky.
