Default Octane

Having searched the Forum, I found lots of discussion on octane ratings for chipped cars.

Mine is not chipped, and I read in the manual that Ethanol at 89 Octane can be used.

Save 20 cents a gallon if I do this, but curious what you folks think....?

Timing is pulled and you get lower mpg, so in the end you will be paying the same in the end filling with either but you will have more power with 93.

The chip actually improves fuel economy. I gained about 3 - 5 mpg out on mine. I highly recommend it, as will everyone else.

And where does the chip go exactly? Do you just plug it in and go? Do you have to mess around hooking up a computer?

I was planning on buying the chip for the 225 hp model (01) from this website;

http://www.goapr.com/Audi/products/ecu_upgrade_tt.html

do you recommend it?

Chip local unless you plan on going with a larger turbo then get a chip from a tuner with a good BT program (ie: Uni). Stock turbo chips will all be close in performance.

The chip is either flashed on soldered into the ecu depending on year and # of programs
