Default Roadster top help

I've committed to buy an '01 roadster, really nice car with one issue, the rear glass is unattached. Can the glass be reaffixed? If not, how tough is replacing the top?

I had the same problem when I bought my '01 roadster, 3 days after i bought it the glass fell out...anyways long story short your best bet is to replace it, everyone i went to said it's not cost effective to try and repair it, I got mine replaced for $1400 total..then spent another $1100 on getting the CCM replaced due to the rain getting in while the glass was leaking.

I had the same problem. Tried gluing it to no avail. I also spent $1400 to replace it. Bought the top myself online and then had a shop install it. Saved me about $400 over the shop selling me the top. There are some websites out there that offer installation instructions with purchase but they all recommend to have it done professionally.
The best brand to buy would be Robbins but EZ on isn't bad either and a bit cheaper.

This is a fairly common problem, but I haven't heard any success stories replacing the glass. The whole convertible top has many potential issues. I'm currently dealing with a wind screen that only comes up on one side.
Replacing the top yourself is a pita. Best to talk with an upholstery shop to see what they would charge for install, then order a quality top on-line.
Unfortunately, the whole process is not cheap.

Thanks for the replies. I found a upholstery shop who will re-glue it and offer a year warranty. They also install new tops, so if it fails I may just ask for discount on replacement.

Does anyone have experiance with autotopsdirect?

Did you find out how they are planning to re-attach the window?
I'd be interested to know if what they do works, as I haven't heard of a good solution, for what seems to be a fairly common problem.
Good luck and keep us posted.

With some type of glue the takes ~24 hours to set. they then put silicone on the outside. I picked it up today and it looks OK, only time will tell how long it lasts.

I'll be happy if it lasts till spring, then I'll get a new top.
