RE: Starter Motor?
I learned the first day at the dealership that its cheaper for me to find my own parts online then ordering from Audi, even with my employeediscount.
For example even when they were trying to 'cut me a deal' and get my car running cheap it was still cheaper to order the whole timing belt kit from ECS. Labor rates...now thats a different story altogether. Unfortuneately I cant help you out with that, though.
I like your thinking with the advanced preventive maintanance. You have no idea how much trouble youre actually saving yourself. I think you will be one happy Audi owner, indeed. Unfortunately parts are parts and prices dont vary really wildly until you go pay retail from the factory or buy something aftermarket etirely. Finding wholesale prices online for factory stuff is usually the best way to go.

RE: Starter Motor?
yeah the first thing i learned when i got this car was to try and get all the maintence stuff even if i didnt need it. so some stuff i have replaced, others i just went ahead got the stuff i know i'll replace soon after i hit 100k miles on the car. so when something breaks i'll aready have it and saving me time and money later (and headaches)
