You also will need a triple-square (12pt) bit to remove the steering wheel, and I couldn't find any in the US. I ended up buying a set from the UK for $30.
You were looking in the wrong places! 12pt (or triple square as its called) are synonymous with VAG. I bought my main set thru a PartsPlus store locally. Called it a triple square, and the guy wasnt sure he'd heard of it before, then asked 'Wait, is this for a Volkswagen?' It was hanging on the wall, he gave me a discount for not being on his toes about it. I also needed a bigger one than what usually comes in the 4 pack set to drop my rear diff, and ordered it thru Snap-On.

Oh, and I can't say I've used 'funky' or 'dodgey'. But I do enjoy the occasional injection of British vocab. Mix it up a bit. ; )

Ok nice update....

After following the FAQ DIY thread, i went and picked up a new hazard relay switch from my local Audi Dealer who had them in stock, i then popped down to Shucks who let me use their radio removal tool for free in their parking lot, and swapped it out in less than 2 mins thanks to the excellent guide on audi world!

So thanks for all of the advice! nailed it ....... always a satisfying feeling when something simple goes right! haha...
