Default 4.2 Swap

so I have a 1996 A4 2.8. I am wondering about swapping the engine out. I have thought about putting in a 4.2 V8. How much work is it to do a swap? What is everyones opinions?

My cars body is in great shape and its exactly what i want. but the engine has 211k and id like something a little faster.

you need a 4.2 that's DBC. then you need to mod the harness, engine mount, and radiator support. you might need to mod the gasket between the engine and tranny to fit the starter. also the swap is much easier if you have a manual, that way an S4 clutch would work

Hey! I take offense to that...

But back to the original topic to help you out a bit:
1. the cost is quite high (but worth it in my opinion)
2. this is a fully custom build, so there are no step by step instructions... you just have to do whatever it takes to make it work
3. I did 4 months of research or more before i started... so you should do the same just so you know everything inside out. otherwise you might end up with a pile of metal that just sits there
