99 A4 1.8TQ Bone Stock Going APR Stage 3+
the jhm shifter is great! id have to say the best part about it is that they give you upgraded bushings so when you go to put it in 1st or 2nd (from nutral or other higher gears) it feels like you are actually hitting up agaist something solid instead on the stock rubber ones.
just my 2 cents on it, im sure many other people on here are using the same one.

awww yeah...sleeper is just fine with me. and thanks for the complements!
JHM just made its way onto the list! thanks for that feedback.
Update:
I think my clutch might be slipping. During accel, at boost, if application of foot pressure is "too quick" or "uneven" (my bad) I get a pretty serious "lurch" (e.g. jolt, not good). That jolt basically gets you off the pedal immediately. I can't confirm, but my thought is that the clutch is slipping. It's not happening when I actually shift, but it can easily happen in either 3rd or 4th when its really boosting. What I have noticed is that if I apply pedal pressure slower, and more evenly, I won't get the lurch/jolt.
So not sure if the clutch is slipping, but thats my guess at the moment. I'll have to keep driving it and see how it feels. I don't drive much so its a little harder for me to get a good feel for it.
BTW, just passed the 500mi break in!

A mount was just changed...about a year ago...I forget which one at the moment. Will have to look at my records. My thought is that the pair of engine mounts were changed. Again, just OEM, no upg.
Shop examined mounts during install and said was good to go. They did recommend, when I felt like it, to put the RS4 engine mounts and APR snub in.
another lil update on the clutch: i think i'm hosed with the valeo on this setup. LOL.
good thread on the subject: Valeo OEM Clutch Replacement Review
considering i'm probably near 300ftlb tq now, and this valeo is supposedly good to 220, well, i think i found the reason for the lurch at boost. (**** is that terrible)
i put a call into the shop where the clutch was installed to check as they had indicated to me, and in writing it was a "valeo performance dmf". but, based on the driving behavior, my bet is i actually have the oem replacement.
so yea, i guess i'll either take it out now...see if it can be sold, or just drive it till it breaks. i'm a much bigger fan of the former than the latter. it has about 4k-5k mi on it. of course i'll have to get a new flywheel as well.
more on the mounts for the guy that asked:
snub mount is still original, imagine that. what was replaced were the engine mounts (driver and passenger) with oem parts. about 10k-11k mi ago.

Valeo clutch kit is just a OEM replacement, it doesn't hold any more then a stock clutch. Pointless using it for anything other then a fully stock K03.
Were you talking about the APR kit or the HTA?
and the learning continues...
point of clarification for any other newbie reading this thread:
the APR Stage 3 kit, for the A4 B5 models does NOT come with the GT2871R turbo. The APR Stage 3 kit for the A4 B5 models comes with the GT28R turbo. Which is part of the GT2860 model series from Garret. The APR Stage 3+ kit comes with the GT28RS.
Thanks to Mike2ptZero for helping me with this. And God help the folks at APR, who when asked on separate occasions, provided two different answers regarding the turbo in the kit.
And a quick plug for Mike, since he was so damn helpful to me. He has an upgrade kit he is working on to take the GT28R up a notch: 68mm HTA Upgrade for your GT28RS and GT2871r turbo So people like myself can squeeze a bit more, without having to replace the turbo entirely. Shoot him a PM or call for more info, as he is still working on this for the GT28R with FP.

yeah, mike, i read that pretty plainly from your other post: valeo ain't gonna cut it.
thanks again! and my experience with it, over the course of about 500-600mi confirms it. it'll slip.
you have any recommendations? i'm looking at DXD/Southbend and RA4 at the moment.
i'll the need flywheel as well, of course. i'm also trying to get something with headroom, that will cover more than just what i have now. as for pedal...i guess i don't mind a stiffer pedal, but i don't intend on running 1/4mi's.
seems like RA4 is cheaper, and i wonder how they have such higher ratings (hp/tq) than an equivalent DXD/SB.
