Default A4 1.6 a/c compressor won't engage

Need some help here please........a/c compressor won't energize when i turn on the a/c....works fine if i run a direct 12v line to it.....there is voltage in the wire until i put load on it, it just falls to zero. Any ideas?

We have fault codes for a reason. If the ECON button stays lit in the a/c control head there is a fault code stored.

check the pressure switch for 12v located to left side of condenser. check top two terminals, that was my problem follow to wires to the connections beneath the PS fluid resivwar. theres 4 prongs top two for compressor bottom two for elec fan. if theres voltage cross top two terminals, if the compressor clutch engages the pressure switch needs replaced and new refigerant added. the switch shouldnt be more than 30 bucks

No problem, I had the same type of issues w/ mine. Worked day and night to figure what was going on. theres nothing worse than having a car w/ leather in the summer w/ no AC. The relay would have been my next guess. good job!
