a4 98 2.8l coolant sensor

hi, i just changed the coolant temperature sensor and i noticed there was 2 o-rings, i was wondering if there is only supposed to be 1 and is it ok to be running it with just 1 or do i need 2?

Supposed to be one. It was probably changed before and they neglected to remove the old o-ring.
