Default ABS Module Compatibility

Lemme start off by saying, I'm one of the many here who suffers from an ill-fated ABS module. This one:

A while back I attempted a DIY repair on it, and it kinda worked. Before the repair the module was COMPLETELY inaccessible via VAG-COM, as was the air bag module. After the DIY repair both the ABS and air bag modules are accessible, but the ABS module is coming up with an internal memory error that comes back as soon as the code is cleared.

When I bought the car the seller provided an additional non-functioning ABS module that could theoretically be repaired and installed onto the car. VAG-COM can't access it, but I'm thinking it might just need to be repaired like my original module. Here it is:

Different part numbers... Would the second one work in my car if it were repaired? I couldn't find any information on this. Also, there's this number on the module (the one above the sticker label):

Thoughts? Thanks!

Anybody ever encounter anything like this?

Well, if anybody else ever comes across this sort of issue, this site might be of some help:
http://cheapabs.com/vraudi.html
That's a listing that references the various ABS module and ABS pump model numbers.
I just shot them an email to see what they think about compatibility, or availability of a compatible refurbished unit.

I had the same problem, and I just replaced it for a brand new one with the same model as the old one. I personally wouldn't try just throwing that other one in your car if you don't know if its 100% compatible.

You're right, and supposedly it's not compatible. Of course a new module is rather pricey... ~$550.

I contacted Cheap ABS about my options. Here's what they had to say (quick response for it being the weekend!):
If it is displaying the internal memory fault, it usually isn't repairable. The 134 module is not compatible with your car, but it should still connect, so it is probably broken as well.
He even offered to take in my 134 module and sell me a repaired 133 module for $100! Sounds like a great deal to me.

Just to update, I got the refurbished 133 module from Cheap ABS and installed it promptly. Just FYI, Cheap ABS is GREAT from my experience. Very fast response to email, and prompt/quick shipping. Highly recommended.

So after the module was replaced, I now have errors associated with both front speed sensors. 2 new aftermarket sensors from ebay are on the way, hopefully they will fix that issue.

What's strange currently is that unless I get moving fast enough (usually 15-20mph), the module doesn't detect an ABS issue and I literally have no brakes. I have to wait for the 3 beeps to actually have functioning brakes... Pressing the brake pedal before that results in odd (and awful) tones coming from around the driver side of the engine bay where the ABS is.
