Call me crazy... (wipers)
So i replaced the wiper motor... cool for a little while but the wiper tranny is just to stripped to lock on for good now. So i'm wondering why not just weld the two together. I don't know sh#t about welding, but if i could weld these metals together i see no reason not too. Just to clarify, i'm talking about the connection between the wiper motor and wiper tranny. This is usually friction held by some small grooves and the nut on top. Some might say, don't weld it cause you'd have to put them in and take them out in one piece but by removing the ecu thats no problem. Seems like a permanent fix to a trouble spot. Ideas?

Hmmm I didn't really know the wipes had a tranny?
Are you just talking about the gears that move them?---You could always weld it but bad idea becuase when you weld spot welds goo all over the place
SO DONT DO IT!

The system that connect the wiper motor to the wipers is called the wiper tranny. It would be welded outside of the car and put back in. I don't know where you live but up in new england i see Audis with the wipers stuck halfway up all the time.

take a pic of what you think you are gunna weld, i can't get the image straight in my head
I am thinking you are talking about the joint, but I may be wrong, sounds like you may be able to drill/bolt/reinforce w a plate
just take a pic, and maybe use a photochopper to circle the spot you want to weld

No i think he means where the grooves are that holds the actual Wiper-the metal part in there, Then the bolt screws on top. Those Grooves are stripped and the wiper doesnt catch.
Correct?
