Default cam tensioner special tool

Hey, what is the bolt pattern and size of that special tool. I'm getting ready to do my valve cover and cam tens gasket and I'm not gonna pay $40 for that tool. Thanks

I was hoping I just screwed a bolt down into the threaded hole and it somehow released pressure on the tensioner so I could lift the tensioner just enough to change the gasket underneath. Or, do I need that plastic piece to provide leverage under the chain to get some room to work under the tensioner? I don't understand the mechanics of just getting room to change the gasket, vs changing the entire tensioner, which I'm not going to do. Explanation, please. Thanks

You have to compress the tensioner to move it out of the way and change the gasket. The tool threads into that threaded hole and pushes against tensioner pad to compress it.

just to elaborate, the part of the tool that is pressing against the tensioner pad is the big plastic part. not the bolt part. that's why you can't just screw tyhe bolt down and release pressure. the threaded hole is just a guide and somewhere to hold the bolt while the plastic end holds down the tensioner pad.

I followed this guide when i took care of mine.

The tool compresses both top and bottom pads, as seen in photo. Just an extra cam tensioner I had lying around. It is compressed fully as you can see.
