Default Car wont start. Automatic thinks its manual

Like the title states. It was around -12'C this morning. Car started fine last night, and I believe it was just as cold.

I turned my key and I can hear the car trying to start. All the lights work. I look at my center display of my dashboard and it read "Press Down On Clutch To Start"

....... WTF? I have an automatic tip! Anyone ever had this problem? I was thinking of disconnecting the battery hoping to reset the ECU.

No one else have anything to say? Am I the only one that finds this comical and upsetting at the same time as my car decided to convert to a manual half way over night? I will be home soon. I have never disconnected the battery. I read from other sources that I may need vagcom to reset a few settings after disconnecting the battery. Can anyone shed some light as to what they are and if I do need to reset them? I dont have vagcom.

If the ECU is fucked by the way. Where and how much can get those for?

My TIP started to whine today :/ heard it at taco bell because the drive-thru wall is so close, Thats odd as hell though, because thats only changable via vagcom... Going for my Computer engineering major, so possibly the extreme cold combined with old resistors, made the cluster think it was in a stick?

Did it start fine?

After work, i boosted it and it started fine. Sorry for the panic everyone. I really wish i had taken a picture though when it read "Press Clutch Pedal to Start" on a car thats an Auto.

Yes, it usually happens when the ECM looses all power to it for a brief moment, even less than a second can do it. It will either be a loose (or broken) ground terminal, power terminal, or the connector to the ECM itself.
In most probable order.
1) ground cable

2) power cable

3) ecm connector

4) ECM
