Default creaking sound from back wheels

Whenever I sit in the car or get out, there's this creaking metal on metal contact noise that comes from the back wheels which makes the car sound like an old beat up truck. Could this be coming from the rear bearings or something? I thought it was the springs at first, but the sound seems to be coming from the center of the wheel or behind it? Anyone have or had this problem?

I'm willing to bet it is broken rear springs for both of you. They break a lot on these cars (if you have stock springs), right at the bottom. Get in there and look - you'll see about the last 4" of the spring, the section flat on the perch, broken. It's happened to every A4 driver here that I know. It's God's way of telling you to lower your car.

Jeremy's absolutely right. My left rear spring is broken right at the bottom and makes a creaking sound. The only way to see mine is to lift it up and see it. I will be replacing those once I get my Bilsteins with HR springs.

Is your parking brake engaged when you do this? Mine creaks when I don't pull it tight enough. If it is engaged, just disengage it and then try.

Looks like A4 2000 might be lowered already.

Yep. I have Eibach pro kit springs. I really don't think its the springs.
