I have a vvme HID kit and one of the bulb's went out. Can I just replace the bulb or do I need a new bulb AND ballast? Thanks...

The bulbs have the same sockets, put the good known bulb in the socket that isn't working and see if it works. If the other bulb lights then you just need a bulb, you can also try the bulb in the other socket to see if it lights on the other side which would tell you if its a bad ballast. Knowing the chinese, it can be either of them.

You should just be able to replace the bulb. does the ballast make noise (high pitch humming sound) when you turn your lights on? If it does then the ballast is fine and the bulb actually is dead. If not then it is the ballast that needs to be replaced

I bought a pair of replacement bulbs on eBay from a seller in NYC for $22 shipped. Buy a pair and replace both so the bulb colors match and save your existing good bulb for a backup.

Do what auditech79 said. Make sure it's not the ballast.

Best of luck!
