Default Engine making roaring noise when pressing on gas

Hey guys.

I have a 99 audi b5 1.8t. I noticed that a"roaring noise" occurs when I press on the gas or driving from 1st to 3rd. It doesnt make the noise unless I press on the gas.... even when I am in park. Its not the wheel bearings as I have changed those recently. I also notice that my car doesnt make a wind-down noise anymore when I shut off the car. I checked the fans and both are running so I'm not sure what it could be.

Please Help.

Not as much do to the roaring noise. It still boosts a little but my DV doesnt sound off and when I turn off the car it doesnt make the wind-down noise anymore that you are suppose to hear. I have no check engine lights on or anything.

Could it be DV failure? or fan clutch?

If you have a stock DV, then check all of the piping beginning from the airbox valve (it's early, I can't remember the name, but it comes out of the piping right after the airbox) and follow it down, all the way to the DV and back up through the other side. Those hoses underneath get brittle and break.

If you have a billet DV. Make sure it's screwed together tight as well.

G/L and keep us posted.
