Tearing out the headliner isn't bad at all, at least the second time around. I really just want to replace the sunroof with a carbon fiber insert right now and have that painted. I rarely used it anyway.

You'll forgive me if I don't pat you on the back for being "ballsy"

You just come across as vulgar and stupid.

To be honest, this thread isn't getting very far. How about everyone just focuses on the topic?

best thing to do is take it apart watch what parts are moving and what is not moving and troubleshot from there

Nick, I'm thinking it's the plastic track that covers the actual track that's falling apart on yours. It's broken on mine and my sunroof gets stuck. I thought you had a similar issue before, but it was a little different. A new one costs about $1500; used...you don't really know what you're getting. I have a couple spare sunroofs I'm determined to work on this summer when I'm home from school. Maybe I'll sell you one cheap

Question though--why go for the painted sunroof delete instead of having a window above your head to let sun through? It'd weigh a little less, but it can't be that much.

Just like Auditech said.... operate the motor with it disconnected from the sunroof frame and make sure the gear turns.

Then make sure the switch is in the closed position. Then hand crank the sunroof fully closed and install motor.

This is setting it up for the zero position.

If you can hand crank the sunroof fully open and closed and feel no resistance your cables are fine.
