How should CCT respond when cranking by hand? Answer ASAP!
I'm about to fire up my 2.8 after a complete head rebuild. The timing is dead on when I rotate the engine by hand, no contact between pistons and valves.
The cam chain tensioners on both sides tighten, then drop fairly drastically. Up, then down, etc. Shouldn't the chain stay tight once the oil gets into the tensioner?
thanks

Thanks man.
I decided to go for it, bloody thing fired up first crack! A bit of ticking and then it went away within a few seconds. Hopefully all is as it should be, I've been on and off with this thing for months ever since the timing skipped and destroyed a bunch of valves!
On another note, I've never had such a big box of leftover bits after working on a car. . .
