Default LCD Dispay question

I have read and seen that you can install a replacement LCD screen to fix the pixel problem. I will order one and replace it, however in the mean time does anyone know the effects if you simply unhook your center display for the time being? I would rather it not turn on at all than to look like a broken Nintendo game. If it is unhooked will the car still run properly? Any info would be great. Thanks in advance.

The car will run with it unplugged.

All you have to do is click the reset button on the wiper stalk to turn the display off. Otherwise yes, you could unplug it from the cluster without ill effects.

You can turn it off? That's great!!!! I have been through the owners manual and not found any way to turn it off. Thanks for the advice, that's why I reach out to the forums
