Red face lock/unlock with key

hi,
my lock unlock buttons dont work on the wireless key. HOWEVER, whenver i press it i hear sound coming from the trunk. So i opened the bad boy up and at the back near the right tail light there is a box that has bunch of wires hooked up to it , it makes alot of noise whenever i press the button. Any clue what it does or what its for? And is it broken or is it supposed to make that noise? thanks

our locks are operated via vacuum. That's the vac pump. If its making noise but your doors still don't lock/unlock, you've got a big vac leak someplace.

there is only a leak if the pump continues to run, if it runs for longer than like 5 seconds you shouldnt have a leak. check to see if it was wet at sometime, i've had nothing but trouble in my car with this thing. i went through a few used ones before i found out that the catch in the drivers door was bad and causing all of my problems. good luck with chasing ghosts cause thats what its been like for me.

Do you get the same behavior when you use the lock/unlock buttons on the driver's door?

If so, the pump you have in your pic might be bad. I had to replace mine a couple of months ago for the same behavior you're experiencing now.

LOL funny story, i pulled my vac supply out today because my locks dont work. The pump makes its really cool whiny sound like its trying to work, but it doesnt. Ide say 8 seconds is about how long mine spools for. Where did you say your problem was Audacity?

Mine has 200k miles so im assuming its just dead, but I dont know. What are things to check? I tried sourcing the vac lines but got bored haha
