Major Brake Issues (pics)
lol he from canada they dont have autozone!
I'd be worried about what the face of that piston looks like. If its been grinding on the back of the rotor for a while, those two dimples might be shaved off and you won't be ABLE to turn the piston back in...
Who needs rear brakes anyway?
Hey guys,
So I am currently waiting for all my brake parts to arrive. (new rotors and pads all around). The car has been making a nasty noise from the back left so I decided to stop driving the car and inspect the issue...Well little did I know but it would seem I have been playing with my life because there are no brakes left in the back, the front ones are ok. Take a look for yourselves.
The rotor in the back is completely shot:
Then I found this part on the ground in my driveway...I don't know what it is exactly, it seems to be the remnants of the inner brake pad:
And you can kind of see in this picture but the caliper piston is completely extended onto the rotor and there is no pad back there...
Is that the inner brake pad I'm seeing? Will my caliper be ok or do you think it got damaged since the inner pad broke off?
Rest assured I will not be driving the car until I get this all fixed.
Thanks

Hmm that does worry me, but I stopped driving it just as the inner pad came off so I doubt it has had time to eat away at that much of the calliper, we will see. I'll update the thread once I get in there.
Hey guys,
So my parts arrived today and I started taking things apart. Take a look at the calliper and lmk what you think:

As you can see it had just started eating away at the piston and the two holes for the tool are still there. It looks like it just shaved off enough to make it all nice and shiny.
Now for the question. I was able to rotate the piston with some needle nose pliers but it doesnt seem to be compressing at all...Do you need to apply compressing force aswell as spin it or is it threaded in a way that spinning alone makes it compress? If so how many turns are we talking here?
Thanks
