The knee bolster is pretty easy to remove. Pop out the tabs on either side bellow the steering wheel to expose those bolts. Then there are a couple behind the fuse box lid, and I think one on the bottom near the floor. Slides out. The port has to be hanging up there.

HAHAHAHAHAHA! This post just made my day!! LMAO!!! A 'mechanic' who can't find the OBD port???? Then says it's an AUDI ONLY PLUG??? HAHAHAHAHA!! Are you sure he doesn't milk cows for a living?? this is so funny... He just doesn't have the adapter for the scan tool he has for AUDIs!Which means he probably doesn't have the software to diagnose it EITHER!!!!!!

Kennny2004, I'm NOT laughing at you...

Now that I'm done laughing, GET A NEW MECHANIC RIGHT NOW who works on EUROPEANS!!!!-OR BUY A VAG CABLE on ebay and download the software from Ross-Tech!! Pull the codes, then you can post them here and everyone here will be happy to help you....

In my lifetime, I've been to sooo many MASTER CERTIFIED ASE mechanics with all these certificates who don't know anything (no offense to those who do and care as I do) I end up teaching them...just having that certificate doesn't really mean anything....How many posts do I read where people had their brakes done, and their ABS light is on? Why? Because the brake guy NEVER did any Audi BRAKE WORK!!!

Find someone on these forums who lives close to you, network, and they will help you out...

Sorry, I'm STILL LMAO at that 'mechanic' OBD plug statement.....

I've heard/read that before, but in my '98 there's both - one in the rear ashtray, and one by the driver's left knee. Both are there and both work to read/clear DTCs. Weird.
