I have a 96 a4 non quartto how is it that my battery life is staying 11.5 to 12 volts I'm kind of confused, cause my serpentine belt snapped and my battery light came on, thinking that i'm screwed but some how I made it home and when I got there I saw that my belt was missing and I was trying to figure how my car is staying at 11.5 to 12 volts

 

If the belt snaps your engine will still run off battery power, however running the electronics it won't last long. Go ahead and try to start it a few times, it will kill the battery in a hurry.

 

I drove on 12 volts for like 30 mins and start it every day and volts never move
