Hi

I have a 98 A6 2.8 Quattro lately the car have been dying not able to start in the morning or in the middle of the day. Sometimes I charge the batterry & it will run fine for a couple of days & after & die again. I thought it was the battery problem, but I recharge over & over the power on the battery it's fine. So anyone whom have that problem & was able to fix respond with a few ideas on what to do.

have the battery laod tested. could be alt also

 

I'm not sure on Audi's but it could also be your voltage regulator. But I think in the newer cars, they are built into the alt. so you'll have to replace the alt. Also get your battery checked out, because if this happens for a while, then you'll have to replace the battery also becaue it won't want to hold a charge.

 

dont forget to check the water in the battery, some that are said to
be maintainance free are not and will not hold a charge long without
water(distilled h2o only please)

 

Had a similar problem the first year I had my car. Turned out to be the battery. Just wouldn't hold a charge for very long.
