Timing was out by a few teeth - drove then had jerking problem. checked starter, checked plugs etc - finally stripped car and opened valve cover and turned crank with hand.....one lifter refused to open / respond. how can I fix this ?

 

by replacing the valve(s) you bent. its also very possible that lifter is collapsed
