Default p1857 from ABS controller help

ok so i've been having problems for a about a month with my abs. it'll kick in when i'm about to stop at like 10mph. and no i'm not riding on the brakes, they do it all the time. also when i press on the pedal, it feels like there's air in the system because the pedal kind of pulls itself towards the floor without me using the right for to do that. i did swap out rear passenger caliper, and since then this crap has been happening. i bled just that caliper. the EPC and ABS light comes on randomly when i'm driving but it usually comes on when i'm at 70mph.

p1857 is Load Signal Error Message from Engine Contr. i searched and found some threads where people had that code simultaneously with a bad MAF sensor code and auditech79 told them to fix the MAF and clear the ABS code and they should be fine. well the only CEL i'm getting is a bad passenger cat. i don't have the money to buy a cat and have it welded right now and universal ones don't have the bung in them.

usually it's as simple as swap this out and you're good but this one has got me and it's really annoying. plus, i don't think i want to drive in the snow with in adequate brakes. so my question is have any of you ever had a problem like this or any tips would be appreciated.

Not sure exactly, other than let's tear into it and try some stuff. Give me a call when you're able to and we'll set up a time to get you over to the house and we can even try swapping parts from my car into yours, clearing the codes, and seeing what happens. It's not the most scientific way to go about things, but put our heads together and try some part swapping and I bet we figure it out.

I used to have the ABS kick in on my A4 and it was because of a dirty ABS sensor.
