98 audi a4 2.8 30v, .....i have a cel for the secondary air pump. but the light comes on and off intermittently. recently i have found when i slow down it idles at around 300-400 for a second and then goes back to 600rpm...i am affraid that it will die on me i have a long drive to work everyday please help!

 

What are the codes? I'm going to advise to clean your throttle body, that will probably clear up the idle issue, unless it's caused by something else, just post all your codes.

Could also be a vacuum leak and/or related to the SAI pump....

And I just thought of it, unplug your MAF sensor while the car is running...if your SAI pump is bad, the MAF is going to suck in 'bad' air and send the wrong signal to the PCM, causing a bad idle.....so, unplug the MAF while it's running, and if it runs better, than your issue is caused by your SAI pump or smog system somewhere.....

 

What is a SAI? Every one on these boards is so helpful but they use terms I don't know. Not only am I a noob to Audi but for the most part a noob to DIY's and auto repair.

the only code im getting is p0411... sai...something....but anyway i unpluged the maf and nothing happened...but i did try to put it in reverse and it jerked the hell oit of the car and the car wouldnt move

 

Clean out your throttle body.
