I have a 2000 a4 and I need to replace my hood. I have been looking online and found hoods but some of them have early vin and later vin numbers, 2000 and on or earlier. Do the split in vin numbers only apply to 1999 models or all models? If not, does it matter if I buy an early or later model vin from a 1999 as the later vin numbers are a lot easier to come by. The last six of my vin are 052171. Thanks for the help.

 

The split seperates the 96-99 hoods from the 99.5-01 hoods. The only reason for this that I can think of is that the windshield washer nozel/sprayer placement is different. Not sure how this affects your situation.

I've got a 99 hood that I bought, it does not work with my 2000 car, nozzles are different.
but if you want it you can have it cheap...
