Default Rear Brake Clicking noise when e-brakes engaged

Hi,

I recently replaced my rear Rotors are Pad on my 2001 A4 B5 Quattro. The installation was fine AFAIK.

However after few days of the job, i see a clicking/poping noise when the car is parked with the e-brakes engaged. Can hear the sound when the car is shaked while trying to open the doors etc.

The sound is coming from the driver side rear. Only when the e-brakes are engaged and vehicle is stationary. (with a slightest move)

I did use the brake quite compound over the pads. verified the caliper, carrier and the lug nuts are tight to its specified torque.

Do someone out here experienced this before ?

May want to take a look at the parking brake cable as it may have been moved when you replaced the pads, and now is touching something it shouln't.

On further inspection, I found that the pads that sit on the frame is little loose. And i could feel a little ply.

I suspect that this ply is causing the pads to knock the housing while applying the brakes in low speed, or when the E-Brakes are engaged and the vehicle has a linear movement.

Tried swapping the pads inner <> outer, and adjusted the anti-rattle springs and re-installed. The issue was gone for few days, but back again.

I think it should not be a big issue other than the annoying noise.

Did your new pads caome with shims to adjust for wear on the caliper carrier where the end of the pads rest against?

I dont think it had the shim on it. All it came with is the spring on the top.

Here is the picture of the pads. And these are from ECS Tuning : Audi B5 A4 Quattro V6 30v > Braking > Pads > Rear > ES#2093769 Rear Brake Pad Set - 4D0698451F

The pads just slides in to the carrier with the rotor in between.
