Default steering wheel not straight after jacking up car...

so yesterday i jacked up my 99 a4q avant 1.8t to do my drivers rear bearing... i only jacked up the drivers rear side and did the bearing, rotor, caliper and pads. of course i destroyed my abs speed sensor, lol... will the sensor make my brakes squooshy? or do i really have to bleed the hell out of it? the purpose of my post is that when i took it for a test drive my steering wheel is now centered about 30 degrees counter clockwise and pulls hard to the right. It of course started to down pour and my head was pounding so i just drove it home and hopefully today will be a bit nicer out. i will look at it today... any help and suggestions on what to look at is much appreciated...

thanx

well theres a chance you threw off your alignment but i doubt it.

if its pulling to the right it could in fact be your alignment, or, a control arm got messed up, maybe too much stress to the passenger arm when it took the added stress when the driver side was jacked up.

However, if there was no pull i would suggest, if you have the time, you can always remove the steering wheel and reposition it. i dont suggest this without knowing for SURE your alignment is perfect and you have no other problems.

NH those were my ideas too... just seein if anyone else had the same prob before. i know a lot of jeeps seemed to have a steering linkage that would go out of wack when jacked up, it seemed the colum came out of the steering box somehow... just pokin around seein if there was a simular occurance with audis too... i will keep ya updated in what i find... thanx

I would think that you have a bad part, or something loose up front. That's weird, honestly, lol.

But, rear suspensions can cause driveability issues, If i recall you can set toe in/out back there too. IF it's far enough off it can cause a pull. I don't think I have seen one cause what you are describing though. Most people describe rear suspension issues like this as a drift.

I'm a jeep guy too, lol. These suspensions are not quite so forgiving. or burly.

it's definitely alignment unless the wheel bearing wasn't pressed in correctly

it was definetly the toe and camber way off, lol... it was a lot nicer out today and i adjusted it the best i could and it is a tid bit off still... but i have not done the passengers side yet, so no need to pay for an alignment when i am just gonna through it off again in a few days... i was considering a lifetime alignment at sears for 150... so every time i do the suspension and sterring i can just take it there... does anyone have a stock spring set... i noticed my rear drivers a half of a turn broke off... the brakes are still a bit sqooshy although it could be because i never felt all 4 brakes working... i am sure the caliper has been frozen before i purchased the car.

thanx

i know, but i still think i need to reverse bleed them... just feels a bit too squooshy to me... i have the abs light on because i destroyed the sensor... what will that do? will it effect my pedal? i will replace asap, but need to take everything back off an drill it out and that is a task and a half...

thanx

alrighty so,

I just did my rear passenger bearing and checked all my brakes while i was there. I was having exactly the same problem. Its the alignment. It sounds like you have it under control now, but for future reference, make sure you have the car under normal load while putting everything back together.(jacking up the whole hub assembly to immitate of course) Also, you are gonna wanna tighten everything slowly to make them even. Even the smallest tweak could mean a few degrees off on your alignment giving you a howl or a shudder.

Worked for me sorry about the sensor lol i almost took mine out not paying attention to what i was bracing on.
