In my dealings with engines, inop radiotr fan is a pretty big deal. I'm not trying to detract from your statement because it may not apply in your case.

I would typically 100% agree, however the car does have the massive viscous clutch driven fan which is brand new and working properly. The engine bay is pretty compact though, it is entirely possible this car may need the additional flow over the radiator to keep it from overheating. I also have the belly pan off to the car so the fans may not be as efficient as when it is installed, although i would think not having that on would actually help the engine dissipate the heat better. I'll start to tackle this problem once i get my transmission lines to stop leaking coolant, i don't think it is overheating to the point where i have to worry about blowing a head gasket etc. Thanks a ton for all the help,
Ryan

edit: transmission lines to stop leaking fluid, not coolant. lol.

Its supposed to stay pegged in the middle when up to normal running temp. The coolant leak could be coming from anywhere. You just have to look hard. Try degreasing your engine, it will help show any fresh leaks. Park over a piece of cardboard with your belly pan off too.
or put some uv dye and get uv gogles

just to update this thread for future search purposes, the inop aux fan was in fact causing the overheating. Turned out the resistor was bad, bypassed that and no more problems(Except a rediculously loud aux fan running at full tilt whenever the a/c is on). I also fixed my tranny lines by having my mechanic re-crimp them, installed a new radiator(it was leaking) and while i was at it replaced the o-rings on all accessible lines. So far so good as far as leaks go, except my damn power steering fluid which is seeping out at the cooler lines regardless how tightly i screw down the clamps(aarrrgh!!!).
