trim
That's correct, the one around the hazard switch is held on by half-a-dozen-or-so clips. The rest of the trim pieces are held in place by screws that are hidden by the rest of the dash. It involves removing the glove box, knee bolsters and all the other crap from the dash.
Removing the dash is not necessary. That's a whole lot of work. Just give it a strong tug. Give it a little support so that it doesn't bend awkwardly. You'll see what i mean when you get going. The trim around the hazard is easier to remove. Pry it out with a flat head.

Follow the DIY on Audiworld - it's a procedure to make brushed aluminum trim. Step by step on how to remove all of it. If you tug on the dash pieces you'll either break them or be screwed anyway because if you get them out you'll have lost the retainer clips on the trim posts that hold them on. Remove the lower half of the dash and pry off the retainers. On the doors, the retainers pop off from inside on the back of the door panel.
