Default trip meter when starting car

Ok so I was wondering something. When I start my car (97 audi a4 quattro 2.8) underneath the odometer it has a little number or set of letter that read ln1 or in1 well when I started my car today it read ln2 or in2 not sure which one but it had a 2 at the end instead of the usual 1 what does that mean and is it bad?? Thanks for all the help

So I searched via google and found out that its a 10k mile service code...but the problem is. It says for a 97 you have to have a certain tool to reset it and the DIYs aren't working?? What tool do I need??
