Question Trunk Leak

My trunk has a water leak on the right side. I let it go until it fried my central locking unit which sits in the well on the right below floor level.

So far, the sunroof drain hoses are tight and don't leak. I had a glass company remove and reseal the rear window.

The window reseal made it a lot better. It no longer leaks in the c-pillar and through the upper seat belt tensioner well in the rear shelf which was the original problem. But, it does leak between the wheel well and the fender and thus drips into the well that holds the central locking unit.

I hate to have the glass guy come back until I eliminate other possibilities.

It may be the gas filler pipe.

Any ideas? And, what automotive shop would tackle difficult leaks if it comes to that? The body shop I asked sent me to the glass place.

Many thanks,

John

That thought crossed my mind too. But there isn't that much water behind that door, and it pretty much drains out before it puddles up to the height of the filler.

Have you taken off the fender liner back there? Any chance it's spraying up off the wheel and into come rust spot?

It leaks when water is sprinkled on the window seam on a dry day when the car is not driven. So, it's not spraying off the wheel and in through a rust spot or through those little strange vent flaps visible in the well.

Thank you for your input.
