Brand new, two k03's could run you about 3-4 grand. Even rebuilt ones are expensive.
umm.... what?

you are talking about K03 turbos? like the stock turbo on a 1.8t? used they can be had for $150. new they are $600. no idea where you get 3-4 grand from.

I sold a pair I had lying around to a guy in PA for $230 shipped. They're cheap and plentiful.

Lol...the work I could do myself, I have access to a shop/ tools and work there on the weekends. I never get charged for any work I do. The tuning and custom fabrication is what I think is going to be expensive. I haven't been able to find FI off the shelf tunes for the 2.8L. If I embarked on the project, I didn't want to make big unrealistic numbers with the K03's, just wanted to aim for 250hp. 7-10K for a turbo setup is way too much! I'd rather get the S4 at that price range. I have built a turbo civic a while back all for under $1000.00 using DSM parts and as far as tuning goes, I used crome to make my own maps. I'm sure I can throw together a cheap kit for this car, I just don't know of any software for the 2.8L that will allow me to make my own maps. I also don't know if I could use S4 exhaust mani and not sure if that will bolt to the K03's... Thanks.

audi/vw is a lot different then honda. theirs no programs openly available for us to tune are own cars while with honda's, their is. their are tunes and programs to tweak them a little bit, but thats pretty much it. that is why there is no cheap setup with what you are trying to do and should just buy a 2.7T S4.

Fine. My bad, they're dirt cheap. Still, it's two FREE turbos. I say do it.

if that were available to the general public, you would be able to write your own tune. something like that will come out eventually, its just going to take a while.

nope, im agreeing with you. unitronics just released that software but its for dealers only. pretty much all regular people can do to their cars is little tweaks. unfortunately i see their point in not releasing that software to everyone, it would allow people to write their own chips much much more easily then it is now. all of a sudden there would be 5000 chip tuners online, most of them with pirated copies of unitronics software. they would loose a whole bunch of money, which is counterproductive to their business.

hondas (even BMWs) have programs where they can edit their fuel and timing settings in a simple excel spreadsheet and upload them to their car. we have nothing like that unfortunately. our ECUs suck. although if you are smart enough to know how to do it, we can have a 800 horsepower car still running on the stock ECU, something that hondas can not do.
