The coolant hose was a pain in the butt to get to so I took it in to an independent Audi/VW mechanic.

Good luck on fixing your leaks.

That's funny you said that the coolant leak is at the back of the engine, the same area where a mechanic sighted my leak, coming from some hose. The oil leak, I just did all the seal i could think of, the valve cover gasket, half moon seal, cam chain tensioner gasket, right behind the half moon seal.

both cam seals at the from of the engine. The leak looks like its coming from the front. Can a rear main seal oil leak, travel that far from the rear of the engine to the front?

I just got the seal done by a indy shop that doesn't know how to work on Audi's,even though the shop is called, Freddie's foreign auto repair, he botched my valve cover gasket job, so i had to get it done somewhere else and brung him the bill and he had to pay me for another shop, doing it RIGHT! I took pictures of the botched vale cover gasket and printed it out, showed it to him and he had to pay me 250.00. or else get sued.

He did the rear main seal too, so it may have botched that job also, so now i have to chase down this leak and hope its not the rear main seal because if so, i have to pay someone else to drop the tranny and pay 500.00 again!

I do have a 1 year warranty on this ******* that did the rear main seal so if it is found to be the problem, i am going back to him for a refund and have someone else do it!

Here is a few pics of the botched job, that is now redone properly. Now mind you, this *** hole did only the valve cover gasket, he never suggested doing anything else. Not both front cam seals, no half moon or gasket seal.

I had to tell him about the half moon seal and the cam chain tensioner gasket seal, he actually said to me, "these cars don't have half moon seals" Soon as he said that, i was done with him but the damage had already been done. The only thing he actually knew about with the 2 cam seals in the front and of coarse the valve cover gasket.

I actually showed him the half moon seal and cam chain tensioner gasket seal, that came from my B5, when i came to show him the picture of the botched valve cover gasket he did, he just had a dumb look on his face.

Today I changed the fuel filter in my 2001 A4 1.8TQM. Wasn't too bad, but the last bolt for the tank strap took me and a buddy 30mins to get back in place... it didn't want to go in straight.

Also swapped the shift linkages between both Audis, because I had previously installed the JHM solid shift linkage upgrade on it, and wanted to move that modification to the 2001 A4. Fortunately Audi used the same shift linkage between FWD and Quattro, and 1998 to 2001
And lastly, I moved my JHM solid shifter from the '98 A4 to the 2001, and moved the stock shifter from the 2001 A4 to the '98 but also installed my old Ebay short shifter kit!

Which one is the 'regulator LED', which the Cree?

Is yours a B5 (post facelift, 2001.5)?
Will they work on B5 (don't think mine has LED backup lights, or?)

What is the bulb type and part number for the 'regular LED'?
What is the bulb type and part number for the Cree?

The Cree LED is on the right with the "projector" over the LED.
They work for all B5s regardless of year (his wagon was a facelift, mine was a prefacelift and they worked on both).

They LED on the left is not stock, but it's also no where near as bright as the Cree LED (1156/7506 Hi-Powered 5W CREE LED Bulbs (pair) | KrautoLED)

KrautoLED has the Cree listed as a 1156/7506 type. There is a slight difference between those two numbers. The 7506 is a P21W which is not a 1156. Close, though. If you're wondering which LED to get, buy the Cree and you won't be disappointed.

Started tearing apart the 2001.5 A4 today! Got lots of plans for the engine... the easy stuff being a full timing belt/water pump/thermostat job, and an oil change.

Got the radiator support off the car which means the coolant is fully drained (except from the turbo and thermostat), bumper is off, etc. Also ripped out the SAI pump and hoses, and still have to pull the combi valve and install the 034 blockoff plate.
Put in resistor plugs for the N249 and N112 valves under the intake manifold.

All-in-all pretty good progress for ~6 hours including taking my time on everything and eating in-between
