What materials did you make your heat shield out of?
Hey everyone, I have to make a heat shield, and was curious what you all picked up for materials / where you went to get them!
Thanks!
Pics of your heat shield would be great too!

I don't have one to show you but in theory something reflective like aluminum flashing with an insulating material on the engine side should do it. Make it flush to the hood at the top and encase the filter from below so that when you're driving the cone is enclosed in a "box" (with an outside air inlet) and you should be good.

I went over to my local sheet metal shop and got a small piece of a thick gauge aluminum (I don't remember what gauge), brought it home and took a dremel to it.... I made a quick template out of cardboard first though. It was a quick 20-30 minute deal. It's not the best thing in the world, but I can I can pop the hood after a long drive and the filter isn't that warm. I attached a couple of pictures to give you an idea. Nothin' fancy.

I just used some thin aluminum sheet metal and some fiberglass insulation that i put in between the sheets and riveted them together and used foil tape for the edges made a huge difference without it the wire mesh on my intake would be hot to touch after long drives and now its cool even after driving for hours. Picked everything up at the home depot for like 10 dollars and only took like 15 minutes to make
