here is the way i look at it, if you never plan on going bt, just get a oem type clutch, if you plan on going even k04 you want to upgrade.... as for bang for buck.... i don't know

but i like clutch masters and mike hood has some really good prices

Clutch Masters and South Bend both make quality products. I dunno about bang-for-buck but a clutch is one of those things you don't wanna cheap out on.

If staying just chipped I'd skip OEM replacement and put in either a Southbend stg 2 or a clutchmasters fx 100/300...better than OEM feel and more grab. I've been running a SB stg 2 for about 2 1/2 years and am chipped with bolt ons and have been very happy with it

Here is THE best.

The all new CM FX850 Super Single 6 puck

But for your car I would suggest a CM FX300 or SB HDTZ if your sticking with the stock Dual Mass flywheel. If your looking to change out the flywheel I would suggest the CM 228mm FX300 with 15 lbs steel flywheel, the CM 240mm FX300 with 20 lbs steel flywheel(if you dont want any gear rattle) both of these have stock pedal feel and engagement. If you want a slightly stiffer pedal then the SB HDTZ with SB 20 lbs steel flywheel, this is a 228mm kit.

Well that if your a 1.8t, you didn't really say on your first post.

You are 100% correct on that. It is not something you want to cut corners on since the labor cost can be as much or even more then the clutch if your buying something really cheap. Its one of those mods where you want to do it right the first time.
