in other words you may need to replace your heating and air conditioning controls so that the cd player fits and works with the car. or at least i think thats what was being said.

Yea it's not cheap.. You need to take the entire center console and make yours a facelift center with the hvac and double din player. Your best bet and probly a lot cheaper is to get an aftermarket head unit

Do the early 99 and under require the cup holder, hazard, and fog stuff as well? I kind would think so they look taller up there. As said before on top of those possibilities you need the climate controls from an 00+, ash tray, radio, radio cage, and the fascia. The whole gauge cluster LCD thing confuses me. I know a couple of 99.5 A4's w/ them and yet mines a 99.5 and I don't have one and neither does JC. Tifun however does and his is a 99.5 as well.
