Default aargh, another problem with my a4

my a4 avant now has another problem, seems i have a possessed rear wiper. sometimes it works just fine, then other times it has a mind of its own, stops when it wants, starts when it wants even with the wiper turned off. and it very rarely stops in the right position, anyone got any ideas what could be the cause?

They're normal faults for Audi. It could still be the stalk though. I don't know how the system on the avant is but isn't the rear wiper integrated into the same stalk as the wipers on the front?

That's a DIY for teh steering wheel swap, you can get to the stalks that way.

ive also noticed that now when the rear wiper starts playing up, so does my fuel gauge and drivers side electric window control, my fuel gauge claims that i used 120 miles of fuel to do 10 miles, i know its thirsty at times but definately a fault

hmm, then you must have a short... is dufficult to find it, look for the best of your ability to find a short or messed up wire somewhere... Also check all connections, I'd still check the stalk to make sure is connected properly, also the stalk might be causing a short, difficult to say though...
