Default Any writeups how to time the 3.0L?

My timing tensioner failed, but when it died it was in my shop and there was no grinding noises. I'm thinking that there MAY be a chance to recover the engine. Just need to time it. Granted I know the chance is like jumping off of a 20 story building and surviving... but if the engine is toast, might as well give it a shot before buying a new one.

So any writeups on how to properly align the camshafts?

Thanks a ton!

Andrew

Default Hope this helps

Not sure if they timed it or just locked the previous timing b4 changing the belt but I hope this helps you.

Oh dear god...

If you don't have correct timing when everything comes apart. You will not be able get it back. If you very very inclined with this motor. You can get close. But even one tooth off is enough to smash some valves on a 3.0L

Well, took a boroscope (however it is spelled) into the engine and the passenger side is fine.

The drivers side has some marks on the cylinders, but has not rubbed through from what I can tell. I do think that at the very least the drivers side head needs to be repaired/replaced. Along with the water pump, timing belt, tensioner, and idler... then this car is good to go.

But thats just an assumption based on what I saw with a shitty camera in the cylinder.
