break dust

how come my breaks leave so much dust on the wheels everytime i wash my car i drive it for 20 min i see dust again what can be the problem and how do i fix it?

get some different pads... hawk ceramics are very low dust,(what i have) but very spongy pedal feel, i hear hawk HPS are pretty low dust as well with better bite... also try carbotec bobcats

I got Hawk StreetPerformance ( i think HPS) and there is much less dust comparing to the old set.

get some cross drilled/slotted rotors so they can expel more dust out to the rear

That is for gas and water, not dust. Plus he loses pad to rotor contact and will increase braking distance. I just installed some Mintex red box's on both my Fathers 3series and brothers 03 Passat and they have very little dust, great peddle feel, and stop far better than stock pads.

I have wilwood bbk that uses higher temp pads so those dont help you much

slotted or drilled rotors wont help with dust (damn i hate agreeing with cincy but he is right) but i am quite happy with mine.. they resist fade much more than stock.... but i also went to slightly larger rotors to make up for lost surface area
