Default Clutch Not Working

So I was letting a freind use my car last night and they brought it back this morning and said that it wont go into gear.
Upon further inspeaction the car will go into gear, but only when stopped and it wont shift when the car is on.
So its a clutch problem, it feels a little differnt and engages right off the floor and clearly wont disengage the clutch enough to shift or put the car into gear with the engine on.
I dont think the clutch is toast, the car is a bone stock 05' with 72k on it. The only thing I can think of is a bad master or slave cyclinder, although I see no master in the engine compartment so the slave is next to check.

What are your thoughts/experiances as too what the problem may be?

Thanks in advance
James

i can't help you with the problem per say, but im assuming that it was working before you gave it to your friend and he probably fucked around with your car and played around with it and messed up it... but good luck fixing it

Had the same issue with my 05 6spd 1.8T. Sorry to say but the clutch is toast. I couldn't believe it either, mine only had 45K and was bone stock. I had only had the car for 3 days so the dealer I bought the car off of was nice enough to split the cost with me. If you take it to the dealer it was about 2K, If I were you I would buy a kit from southbend. Good luck!!

Same thing just happened to me the clutch was 2 years old w/65k, I just bought the car and drove it for about a week. The Pressure plate snapped in 3 places so the clutch couldn't disengage. I thought it was the slave cylinder too, but after changing it out and bleeding it still wouldn't work so I just dropped the tranny and I'm also changing out the syncro's while I have it out.

If the clutch is still good and the pressure plate cracked I would assume its been driven hard/launches.

Same here, 'cept I slammed it into gear (I had to, interstate) and drove home in 3rd. Made a sound likea finger in a metal fan blade, turns out it was my clutch sawing through the transmission case, 58,000 miles on it, had it for 2 months. $4872.

Take it to the stealership NOW.

Check your brake fluid. There's not mechanical problem in your case, your master cilinder thingy is not pushing enough to release. If your fluid is ok, take it to a mechanic and have them check the master cilinder.

My clutch went dead on me too. Took it to the dealership and its going to cost me about 2K. I thought it would be the slave cylinder according to the stealership its not. I am pissed.
