Hi all,

I heard you Americans really know your Audis (I am from UK London) and we know our Audi's too, but I have a couple of probs that I wanted to share with you...

My car is a B6 1.8T 190bhp, CVT Avant, Auto. In screaming (very shiny) red!!

First Problem
From a cold start my engine makes a rattle noise - identical to this

I have been advised that this could be the cam chain/tensioner. Does that sound right ? The noise cannot be heard from a warm start.

Second Problem
This one may be a little more tricky to diagnose and I am not sure if it is related to the above problem with the cam chain or other part. At very low idle in traffic, when releasing my foot from the brake pedal (as you do when you move off) my car is an auto by the way, there is a reverberating vibration for a second or two. Once I am moving all is good. This is quite annoying when crawling in traffic. I cleaned the throttle body which is now spotless, but I just wondered what could be causing this? When the car is in neutral there is no vibration.

It seems like the revs are wobbly when just setting off and coming to a stop as they dip, which causes the vibration. What could this be ?
