Default Just got my new HID kit from vvme.. have a couple questions...

I just got my HID conversion kit from vvme - when i go to install it - do I need to use my vag-com to change settings to HID Headlights?

If so why? Would anyting happen if i tried to turn on the HID bulbs without changing setting, OR is HID setting only for a real factory HID headlight housing with the motor levelers?

Thank's in advance!

The install of the HID kit is fairly straight-forward. I have the VVME's. Be careful with the connectors. The quality of the plastic in the kit is pretty low. I broke a tab on a bulb and had to order a replacement.

I mounted my ballasts on the bolt that comes through the bumper cover into the fender below the headlamp assembly. All you need to do is round out the hole on the mounting bracket a little more then the stud will pass through it.

As for any special settings, none. The H4 equipped cars don't have the Dynamic Stabilizer System that the factory HID equipped cars have. The last gotcha is that you need to remove the tabs from the large connector at the end of the bulb wiring harness and trim the little tab that is molded into the connector to get it to pass through the 7/8" hole you have to drill in your low-beam access door.

I used a wood bit - the kind that is flat and wide - to make the hole in the access cover. If you go larger than that the rubber sealing grommet that keeps moisture out of the headlamp assembly will not seal correctly.

In hindsight I doubt I would purchase another VVME kit. Their customer service is terrible and their "warranty" is a joke. If anything fails you have to pay shipping back to China or just pay them $35 to get a replacement part shipped out again. I wish I had gotten a kit from an American vendor. The adage is true. You get what you pay for.

Are you guys referring to HID lows/Non-HID Highs, or HID low and high beams?

The auto-leveling is awesome though, When you turn the car on, it "bows" down, as a token of respect to the road that it is about to ravage

I'd love to get a set of those LED headlights off the B8s though... Cursed lack-of-funds...

I was referring to the difference between the H4 based halogen setup and the factory HID setup. The factory HID's utilize the Dynamic Stablization System - the motors that auto-level the headlamps as you drive. That's why they initally go up and down at startup. They are leveling.

Yes, I love it when they bow down. HID's are very straight forward. The hardest part is finding a place for the ballasts. Just get creative. I got mine off of an eb-scray, and I am actually happy. 4300 K is closest to OEM though. 5000K is blue-ish.
Has anyone put LED's on for there tail lights? And what is the best for iPod use. Can you get sound titles and such on the radio with any of them?
